We know how challenging it can be balancing school and western equine competition. Been there, done that! Code West Scholars is here to help you achieve excellence beyond the arena. Every young competitor (and family) we support faces the challenge of juggling training, competition travel, and academics. We not only provide exceptional academic support and coaching; we advocate for your academic commitment as student-athletes and serve as your personal liaison with schools.

Our mission is to provide exceptional educational services that support  Western equestrian youth and their families.

ACADEMIC TUTORING: (contact us for pricing)

  • Academic tutoring with a highly qualified and experienced educator across all K-12 subject areas…wherever the horse leads.  (Each session is one hour in length.)
  • Drop-in office hours are available each week during the academic calendar year (please check portal for weekly schedule; sign-ups required.)
  • Quality, personally reviewed, and hand-selected online academic/curricular resources to meet individual student academic needs.
  • Detailed study session report shared with student/parent/school (upon request)
  • Attendance report shared with student/parent/school (upon request)

PREMIERE EVENT ACADEMIC SUPPORT: (contact us for pricing)

  • Daily tutoring sessions while in attendance at a premiere equine competition (planned event attendance dates should be shared at time of enrollment, if possible
  • Available email or phone contact with educational institution before/during/after event
  • Academic commitment certificates provided in print and/or digital form
  • Detailed study session report shared with student/parent/school (upon request)
  • Attendance report shared with student/parent/school (upon request)

COMPREHENSIVE YEAR-ROUND ACADEMIC COACHING: (contact us for pricing)

  • Weekly academic tutoring with a highly qualified and experienced educator across all K-12 subject areas (1-hour)
  • Drop-in office hours are also available each week during the academic calendar year (please check portal for weekly schedule; sign-ups required.)
  • Quality, personally reviewed, and hand-selected online academic/curricular resources to meet individual student academic needs.
  • Contact with teachers and school leaders throughout the academic year, if requested.
  • Development of essential life skills (including time management, organization, motivation, test anxiety)

PLUS, WHILE AT PREMIERE EVENTS:

  • Daily tutoring sessions while in attendance at a major equine competition (planned event attendance dates shared at time of enrollment)
  • Available email or phone contact with educational institution before/during/after event
  • Academic commitment certificates provided in print and/or digital form
  • Detailed study session report shared with student/parent/school (upon request)
  • Attendance report shared with student/parent/school (upon request)

LEADERSHIP/PROFESSIONALISM COACHING: ($500/per year)

  • Development of individual leadership/professionalism growth plan.
  • Weekly seminars and/or podcasts tied to effective communication
  • Developing partnership with one business or organization to build professional relationships and professionalism.
  • Providing access to ONE complimentary guest speaking service from Dr. Speelman for your organization of interest (travel costs are not included and will need to be negotiated).
  • Free enrollment in ALL workshops and seminars presented online during the academic year.

SCHOLARSHIP/RESUME SUPPORT: (contact us for pricing per scholarship/resume)

  • Comprehensive search-to-submission support for scholarships OR resume/job applications. * (Year-round scholarship and career support available at a discounted price.)
  • Scholarship and career inventory report with student/parent via remote or *in-person meeting (travel costs not included, but can be negotiated)
  • Essay writing and/or job application assistance
  • Scholarship public speaking practice sessions
  • Mock interview sessions

ACADEMIC TESTING SUPPORT: ($75/hour)

  • SAT/ACT prep resources and study sessions
  • Classroom and state-standardized assessments prep support

PLEASE NOTE: All programs require students to have a document camera, which is included with initial registration for the Year-Round Academic Coaching programs. ($100 value)
